Nowadays platform agnosticism is pretty common and it's not surprising to see games releasing on a variety of platforms. In the case of Death Road to Canada [$11.99], it was sort of a weirder situation. You see, the game was originally envisioned as a mobile title but ultimately launched first on Steam Early Access since it was much easier to gather feedback and iterate with updates on that platform. Following lots of optimizations, tweaks, and content updates, Death Road did make its way to iOS in March of last year and then Android the following October. Since then both the desktop and mobile versions have been receiving updates and new content, but that has led to console people hollering about wanting the game on their platforms of choice. Today that dream is coming true as UKIYO Publishing has announced a partnership with developers Rocketcat Games and Madgarden to bring Death Road to Canada to Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Xbox One, and Sony PlayStation 4 this April.
In case you've been living under a rock (or you somehow didn't read this headline), we chose Death Road to Canada as our Game of the Year for 2017 and couldn't be happier to see it arriving on even more platforms so even more gamers have a chance to experience this wacky adventure. That old saying "It's about the journey, not the destination" is like a perfect description for Death Road. Sure, your ultimate goal is to make it from Florida to Canada to escape the zombie apocalypse, but it's more about the things that happen to you and the characters you meet along the way than it is about making it to your destination. In the same way that fans of roguelike games love swapping stories of freak incidents or particularly harsh deaths, Death Road will fill you with tales you can pass down for generations. That's why the inclusion of a "couch co-op" mode in the console versions is such a great idea, as these types of adventures are best enjoyed with friends. It's just a ton of silly fun, so if you've always wanted to play some Death Road to Canada on your console of choice, you'll have that opportunity this coming April.
